Tesla and its batteries

Tesla's plans to roll out large-scale, cost-effective batteries seem to have captured the public's imagination - even beyond tech circles. Increasingly, people from all walks of life mention these ambitious batteries to me and the potential impact they could have.

Just the other day, a couple local school teachers brought up Tesla's future batteries unprompted. They aren't potential investors or tech industry folks either. Yet they had clearly heard about and were excited by Tesla's battery developments.

To me, this shows how successfully Tesla has marketed its battery vision and Roadmap, building public awareness years before the technology is commercially viable. Whether it's the promise of enabling wide-scale home solar storage or stabilizing power grids with massive battery farms, people seem to have bought into the ideas.

Of course, Tesla still has to deliver on its bold claims and prices to truly transform renewable energy storage. But the company has already achieved something remarkable in sparking public imagination and interest around future battery tech.

Not many organizations could generate such buzz for products still years away from reality. Whatever tactics and messaging Tesla is using, it's obviously working to get people talking. If Tesla manages to realize its lofty battery ambitions, it will owe some credit to winning over hearts and minds so effectively already.
