Celebrate Halloween with These Epic Japanese Anime

For my Halloween post this year, I want to share the two most popular and talked-about anime in recent years — Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer!
Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer (or Kimetsu no Yaiba in Japanese) is a dark fantasy action series set in Japan during the Taisho era. It follows the kind-hearted teenager Tanjiro Kamado whose life is shattered when his family is attacked by vicious demons.
Tanjiro joins the secretive Demon Slayer Corps in order to find a cure for his sister Nezuko and fight back against the demon scourge threatening humanity. He’s joined by the clumsy yet talented swordsman Zenitsu Agatsuma and the tough, boar-headed Inosuke Hashibira. Together, they go on epic adventures facing down powerful demons while also meeting many memorable and quirky characters along the way.
While the plot deals with dark themes, Demon Slayer balances this with plenty of humour and heart-felt moments. Tanjiro’s dedication to his sister and kind spirit, along with the comedic moments of his allies, provide levity and make the characters endearing. The animation is also top-notch, lending incredible flair to the exciting, acrobatic fight sequences the series is known for.
Demon Slayer took Japan by storm when it aired in 2019, smashing sales records. Its popularity has spread worldwide too, capturing the hearts of anime fans globally. It’s a great series to check out this Halloween season if you love supernatural action and endearing characters caught up in an epic struggle. Jujitsu Kaizen 0
Another recent anime that is perfect for the Halloween season is Jujutsu Kaisen. For anime fans looking for something dark and supernatural this Halloween, I recommend checking out the hit movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This prequel film to the popular Jujutsu Kaisen anime series stands well on its own.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 follows anxious high schooler Yuta Okkotsu who is haunted by the spirit of his friend Rika. He enrolls in Jujutsu High School to learn to control his immense powers and exorcise Rika. There he meets experienced sorcerers like the talented Satoru Gojo.
Yuta deepens his relationships with Rika, Gojo, and fellow students as he takes on dangerous Curses and learns to harness his abilities. The movie has the same electric animation and fight choreography that brings the jujutsu battles to life.
With its creepy spirits, shadowy tone, and Yuta grappling with sorrow and regret, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a thoughtful supernatural tale perfect for Halloween. It took Japan’s box office by storm thanks to its animation and emotional impact.
